FAQAerial Photo Media

Is flying a drone illegal for commercial purposes?

No. Flying a drone for commercial purposes is 100% legal. As of August 29th 2016, the FAA has implemented what is known as Part 107 to allow drone operators to provide commercial drone services legally. Our equipment is registered with the FAA and we adhere to all safety regulations and protocols.

Are you insured?

Yes, we have $1,000,000.00 in commercial liability coverage from AIS (our carrier) for all projects.

What resolution are your videos shot in?

We typically shoot in 1080p or 2.7k varying between 30-60 frames per second, HD resolution. Depending on the scope of the project and budget, we can accommodate 4k resolution at 30fps.

How is your media delivered?

We typically transfer all projects via Drop Box (cloud transfer/storage service). We can also accommodate delivery via disc, mini disc, or external hard drive. A small fee (cost of courier and disc/drive) is associated with requests for physical delivery of the media.

Can I have the RAW footage?

Unless originally contracted to provide just RAW footage, we retain ownership to all footage we capture. We frequently accommodate project requests to capture RAW footage with submission to a third party editing team or the clients own marketing department. Projects of this type are mutually agreed, priced accordingly, and solidified by contract. Projects of hire for a finished video product are typically not accompanied with the RAW footage upon submission of the final product. However, at the discretion of APM, we may provide RAW footage for a quoted price.

Why can’t I have the RAW footage after the original project is complete?

It’s in our companies best interest to protect the integrity of our work, whether it be RAW or edited footage. By submitting RAW footage we run the risk of:

  • Eliminating potential future earnings
  • Jeopardizing the perception of our brand in the event our footage is edited or utilized for means deemed unethical or unwarranted without our consent and approval.
  • Jeopardizing the quality of our brand in the event our footage is utilized in a format deemed below our standard quality.

Can I have the RAW photos or “digital negatives?”

While we have some flexibility with RAW video footage, under no circumstances do we provide RAW digital images. We retain 100% sole ownership of our digital images. The finished photos are considered a mutually exclusive, shared ownership between the purchasing client and APM.

Are drone operations safe?

Absolutely.  We adhere to a comprehensive set of safety protocols and we are insured. We’ve also published online articles on drone safety.

Can I show the videos on my tablet and phone?

We encourage these formats.  Our videos are formatted to fit just about every media vehicle imaginable.

How long does production take for the video?

All projects are unique and different, typical video projects require 1-2 days of filming and post production is usually completed within 5-7 business days. Small projects such as real estate listings can be completed within 1-3 hours.

How quickly can I access my still photographs?

Photographs are developed and delivered digitally in 48 hours.

How does Aerial Photo Media help my real estate sales?

Simply put, our goal is to take all of the necessary components of real estate marketing that are typically outsourced to multiple entities and bring them all together under one source.  No longer do you need to manage multiple companies, pay multiple invoices, or schedule multiple meetings and consulting appointments.  We make life very simple for all of your marketing needs. We combine photography, video, aerial media, and much more.

Do I receive a discount if I use your services exclusively or continue to buy packages?

The short answer: Yes.  We work with repeat clients and we’re negotiable on volume pricing.  As a base rate, we do not advertise volume pricing because it varies from client to client.   Our bottom line is simple, we wan’t everyone to win and we’re flexible.

Can I direct the video and dictate what shots are included?

To some degree, yes.  Ultimately, we retain the right for the final say in our video production.  We have a lot of experience in this industry and we prefer to allow our team to produce a finished product with our expertise being uninterrupted.  However, we absolutely take in to consideration any and all requests on behalf of the agent and current property owner.  We do our best to adhere to these requests.  At the end, our clients are always thrilled with the marketing production.  We promise not to disappoint.

Does weather play a factor?

Absolutely.  We do not work in rain, thunderstorms, snow, heavy wind, or any sort of harsh weather condition. These precautions are set to maintain the safety and well being of our staff and equipment. Due to unforeseen elements of nature, there are times when we may have to reschedule at the convenience of all parties involved.

If I have to reschedule, is there a fee? What is your cancellation policy?

We understand timing and elements can be dynamic. We honor reschedule requests to the best of our ability.

For real estate photography: we provide rescheduling at no extra cost outside of 48 hours from the original shoot date.  If a rescheduling request is made due to elements completely outside of our team’s control and not due to natural elements, we charge a fee of 50% of the project cost if the request is made within 48 hours.  If a request to reschedule is made within 24 hours of the appointment, we charge a 75% fee.  The reason is simple: on such short notice we cannot utilize the lost time.  We promise to be prompt and respectful with your time, we kindly ask the same in return.

For large scale projects and multimedia requests, a deposit of 50% of the project cost is collected prior to services beginning to solidify our collaboration and finance preparations, with the remaining 50% collected on the start date of your project. If a cancellation is made 15 days or more outside of your project start, Aerial Photo Media will agree to refund 50% of the collected deposit. If a cancellation is made within 14 days of the project start time, Aerial Photo Media retains the right to hold deposited funds to cover all costs, resources, and time dedicated to the project. Said funds also recoup any losses due to opportunity costs from rendering time on our booking calendar unavailable to accommodate said project. Aerial Photo Media will happily apply held deposits from cancellations to future projects, in the form of a credit, if redeemed within 18 months from the original scheduled project, and all terms being agreeable for future project(s).

What are the licensing terms for Real Estate photography & video media?

IMPORTANT LICENSING INFORMATION

Real estate photography prices and services include NON-TRANSFERABLE, NON-RESELLABLE rights to reproduce the photographs for all marketing purposes specifically related to the sale of a single residential property for the full continuous duration of the client’s listing agreement to a maximum of one year from date of payment, including the MLS, real estate websites, the realtor’s social media and print advertising.

The agent is granted a non-transferable, non-resellable license for the image(s) for marketing their services in sold listing compilations and marketing portfolios for a period of 4 years beginning on the date of payment in full for charges relating to those photos. Photos used in marketing materials for the agent must include a photo credit immediately adjacent to the photo in the form of “Photo by Aerial Photo Media” and a footnote on the publication in the form of “Photos © (year of copyright) Aerial Photo Media” or in a manner to designate the photos in the media created by Aerial Photo Media if more than one photographer’s work is shown.

Photos may not be resold or otherwise transferred to those including, but not limited to: builders, architects, sellers, buyers, interior designers, stagers or subsequent listing agents. New agents must purchase images directly from the photographer and are subject to limitations negotiated with the original listing agent. Copyright is exclusively retained by Aerial Photo Media and images must be licensed by Aerial Photo Media for any use.

If the photos are of a “Model” home where they will be used to advertise more than one address, specific licensing arrangements must be made and additional fees paid in advance.

Finished photos delivered to the client may not be altered, adjusted, or edited in any form without direct consent and approval of Aerial Photo Media.

Licensing is subject to receipt in full of all charges related to the shoot. Other licensing terms can be negotiated to suit the needs of your project.
